I need an apple

Okay. Here's where I am. Ideas keep swirling around like gum drops in a gum drop swirling machine, and not just your average candy shop gum drop swirling machine. We're talking willy wonka sized swirling. They're all good thoughts. And good options. About flowers, centerpieces, dresses, invites, themes, and it's a little crazy.

Me and Mariah having been hanging out almost every day and we just keep talking (and shopping) and checking out new things. New possibilities. But it just keeps swirling. At some point I need to pick one thing that I'm like, "this is it. This is the inspiration for my wedding." Kind of like that one designer on trading spaces. She'd pick something like an apple and be like, "This is the inspiration" so she'd have red walls and peel textured sofa and little stems growing out of everything...

I need an apple.

And my latest thought is that invitations might be that apple. So I was up till like 2am last night looking at stuff and I found a few things I liked on House of Brides (this cheesy-ass website that actually has really good stuff cheaper then you could find it elsewhere). And I ordered some samples of some invitations. I'm gonna post pictures of them here as well. Feel free to weigh in. I'm hoping when they get here in 10-14 days one of them will drop on my head and like Issac Newton discovered gravity, I will discover my inspiration. And hopefully Eric will embrace that inspiration as his own (kind of like we embrace gravity as our own...) (Did you catch the link to Newton... how he allegedly had an apple fall on his head and that's what gave him the ideas about gravity... anyone?)

Without further ado. Invitations:

Upon second look it seems a lot of the invitations I like are all from the company Something Different. Here's a link to their collection on another website: http://www.invitationlane.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=IL&Category_Code=SD
Okay. That's about enough for me for now. I have this alleged class I'm teaching next week that I should do something about preparing for.

You are right, deciding on a theme will probably help steer you in your decision making. I will be excited to see what your "apple" is.
The decorations on that site are great, really fun. I like different things about all of them (I know not a lot of help.. I am getting there)
the red ones are great, but I expected you to love the blue ones the most, and blue and brown together is beautiful, the beads are fun on that one too, that you could probably play off of for decor.

Isaac Newton... Gravity... hilarious! =)
I remember looking at the second invitation down for our wedding-- with the red & the wire wrapped around it. I love it. But it's probably a little more CP than MD.

I'm with J, I think blue hues and light, summery themes are very you. Jaci had a great turquoise and brown theme at her wedding that worked really well.

My "apple" was this vintage veil I saw in an ad. I did the whole vintage jazz theme around it, and didn't end up wearing it at the last minute! You never know where that "apple" will come from, but you've got time! Just keep searching, and I'm sure it will just hit you =)
Good luck (and have fun with it-- it's such a FUN search)!

Yeah. I think I like the blue better then the red of the wire one. I think blue things with white flowers might be the way I'm heading...

i really like the 3rd one down but i think yellow or green and white with wire and then pink and orange beads...this give's a little pop! of color and then you can play those colors into the rest of your wedding (flowers, tables....) it would also be fun to pull the wire into the guys boutinnier's like one flower or greenery and then some wire around that.

oh I like the idea of the wire and bead making it into the guys boutineere... how the heck do you spell that.
